Tara & Allan

When Tara and I first met, we weren’t sure exactly where their wedding would take place. We visited a hand full of venues along the Maryland coast, and ended up right in the heart of beautiful Downtown Annapolis. It was the perfect mix of elegance and home town feeling for them and their guests. Bringing them home to the USNA and a classic downtown reception. We celebrated Tara and Allan on the long weekend of July 4th at the beautiful United States Naval Academy Chapel, just a short walk away to their reception at Historic Inns of Annapolis. A traditional and classic ceremony location that is very much cherished here in Annapolis, and a popular site for USNA grads such as Allan.

One of my favorite parts of the day was post ceremony, guests followed a bagpiper to the reception.

As guests arrived, they were greeted with champagne and escorted to the patio where they enjoyed cocktails in the warm Maryland summer air. Blush, gold, white and green details filled the space and flowed into the reception held in the atrium. This space is my absolute favorite in the downtown Annapolis area! The black and white backdrop of the Capital building, the wood floors, the warm brick walls, the bistro lights. Everything about is is magical with the right accents and decor. We brought in lots of whites to brighten the room, mixed with warm wood tones and lush blooms to keep the space soft and feel as if you were in a garden terrace. We covered the bistro lights in greenery to create a growing vine effect, softening the lighting and bringing the greens in as a focal point. Paired with gold foil details, a custom white crest to mark the dance floor, distressed white wood tables, and ALL the flowers, this reception space is definitely a favorite.
