AME Brides

Caitlin & Danny

When Caitlin and Danny walked into my studio, I knew immediately we were meant to be. They are getting married on Cinco de Mayo at one of my favorite Baltimore venues, Mt. Washington Dye House next year. How fun is that?! These two have a story that will melt your heart and make you want to travel the world.

From the bride:

Every other year, we like to plan an international trip because we love traveling and enjoy finding new places to explore together. In the past, we have gone to Australia and Croatia and absolutely fell in love with both places. This past year, we planned a trip to Ireland in August. Since we had been on these big trips before, I never had any expectations that a proposal might happen – I never wanted to get my hopes up. We spent the first few days of our trip in Dublin then rented a car and drove across the country to Galway. Danny wanted to go to the Cliffs of Moher our first day there but it was so cloudy we needed a backup plan. My friend Sharon suggested we go to Kylemore Abbey, which is a castle/estate built along a lake at the base of these beautiful mountains in Connemara. The drive there was so surreal and breathtaking – there were sheep crossing the street, mountains as far as the eye could see, and lakes along the twists and turns of the windy road. I was already very overwhelmed and emotional by the time we arrived! Then we learned more about the property, which includes the castle/estate itself, a miniature cathedral, a secret walled garden, and scenic walking trails. Apparently, a couple had honeymooned in the nearby town and his wife loved the location so much that the husband built the entire grounds for her. What an incredible love story! We walked along the trails to a scenic overlook by the water where I assumed Danny was setting up the GoPro to take a self-timed photo of the two of us with the lake in the background. I thought we were done taking the photo and were just enjoying the moment and telling each other how much we loved one another. I had no idea anything was up until he reached into his pocket – I gasped for air I was so surprised! We laughed, cried, celebrated, and spent the rest of our time in Ireland reeling from the excitement of being engaged (and being the only two people who knew about it). We kept the engagement a secret and surprised our families and friends with the news in person when we got home. Our wedding day is May 5, 2018 (Cinco de Mayo!) and we are so excited to plan a heartfelt and joyful celebration of our love surrounded by our favorite people in the world.
