Sohee and Ron’s Brittland Estate Wedding

Sohee reached out to me a short 4 weeks before her 4th of July weekend wedding at Brittland Estate. You read that correctly, 4 weeks! We spoke over the phone the same day, as she was in New York and I was here in Maryland. We instantly connected, and I couldn’t help but make myself available for her and Ron. Looking back at these photos made me all teary eyed all over again. Sohee and Ron are a dream couple and their day was just as dreamy! Minus the hurricane force winds, which I will get to in a bit.

Between Ron’s Jamaican heritage and Sohee’s perfect sense of style and Korean influence, this wedding was one of the most unique and entertaining I have ever been a part of. The day started flawlessly with the sun shining and details in place. Then just as we were getting ready for guests to come in, we see the darkest sky of all time roll in over the Chester River. And I mean, DARK! A huge storm was right around the corner that suddenly appeared out of thin air. The best part? We had no tent sides on their perfectly designed reception. What followed was 60 mph wind, sideways rain, thunder, lighting, the works. We held down the fort and pushed the ceremony till it passed. And once it did, the most beautiful sky appeared and the rest of the day was pure perfection. Moral of the story? Sometimes things happen that you absolutely can not control. The best thing you can do is roll with the punches and adjust as needed. Their ceremony overlooked the fields and beautiful water view at Brittland, followed by a cocktail hour in the garden with live music by friends and family and Jamaican rum punch. One of my favorite parts of the day was when the couple changed into traditional Korean dress for their cocktail hour! My second favorite part, their first dance. They surprised the crowd with an amazingly choreographed dance. It was a day full of incredible culture, so much love in one space, beautiful blush details, and the dancing the night away. I know you will love this wedding full of character to the brim as much as I do.
